Excitement always abounds at the beginning of a new school year. We were given the privilege of celebrating that "joy" with Newport Public Schools.
Our Program
Our presentation allowed participants to reflect on their methods for ensuring academic success for all Newport Wildcat scholars. We examined Multi-Tiered Support Systems and Culturally Responsive Teaching/Learning as foundational bookends for their professional learning community.
Participants' Evaluations
Participants indicated that the insights provided on Multi-Tiered Support Systems proved particularly useful in meeting the needs of diverse students. They also appreciated the practical strategies shared for implementing Culturally Responsive Teaching/Learning and the practical advice shared. There was wide agreement among attendees that the session provided actionable steps that could be applied immediately in the classroom.
Event Highlights
Wildcat Academy is Newport Public Schools' solution to tiered professional development. Campus and District participants heard from Dr. Donyall Dickey, a nationally recognized authority on curriculum and instruction. Regional presenters offered information on such topics as critical consciousness, student-generated anchor charts using AI to enhance creativity and collaboration. Attendees had a wide variety of sessions which they could attend.
